Believe it or not, I designed this travel brochure LAST CENTURY! Back in the good old days of film separation and chromalin proofs, when the small mistake could cost a designer thousands of dollars. I was given the challenge of pitching the island of Borneo to Australians as a holiday destination. I decided that to achieve cut-through in the over-crowded brochure racks of the travel agencies, we’d need to give aspiring adventurers a desire to take our brochure home with them. Thus, I adopted a more “coffee table” book approach. The gamble worked and Borneo is very much on the bucket list of many travelers today.
